Our family lived in Ashburn for 22 years before moving in 2022, so we had many years of enjoying the fabulous wines in VA! Top three that were close to Ashburn were RdV, Linden, and Stone Tower. The Lost Mountain wine at RdV is spectacular! Jim Law and his team at Linden have incredible Chardonnay and Hardscrabble Red, as well as Petit Verdot for those wanting something a bit more robust, and Jim is a wealth of knowledge and so giving of his time to teach us about "wine growing". Stone Tower has two reds that never disappoint, Wind Swept Hill and and Hogback Mountain, as well as some very nice Chardonnay and Viognier. Other wineries on our list to visit if we were traveling in the neighborhood were Early Mountain (Rise is a beautiful Merlot dominant blend) and Barboursville (Octagon is another incredible Merlot dominant blend). As time passed, these and many other wineries have worked very hard to adjust to the climate challenges and other factors to keep producing great wine, and with the passing of time, their vines have gotten more age on them, producing fruit that makes better and better wines. I hope everyone gets a chance to visit and support all these great wineries when you have the opportunity. Cheers!

Glen Manor - the vintner there was a student of Jim at Linden and also has some great French style wines with his vineyards on the slopes of the mountains. https://glenmanorvineyards.com/

My favorites there are Cab Franc, their signature Hodder Hill, Sauvignon Blanc, and the perfect summer Rose.

My wife and I have visited over 60 Virginia wineries since moving back to the Commonwealth 2.5 years ago. You nailed my personal favorite - Linden - but my favorites include Michael Shays near Charlottesville, Veritas (“Red Star” is a personal favorite - great mouthfeel and very easy drinking), and Barboursville. I also recommend several wineries in or very near Loudoun County, including 868 and 8 Chains, along with Firefly, Fabbioli, and Hiddencroft. Others include Williams Gap near Round Hill, Veramar (for their whites) near Berryville, Bull Run (adjacent to the Manassas National Battlefield), and all three of Chris Pearmund’s wineries in Fairfax County, including his namesake Pearmund, Vint Hill (great history) and Effingham (the Norton is the best in the state). The winery closest to Washington, DC, Paradise Springs, is also excellent.

We love Barboursville, near Charlottesville. Great wine and a great restaurant, as well!

Hi Jose... one of the amazing things is how long lived Linden Chardonnay's are. We've recently opened a 2014 Hardscrabble and a 2010 Village; both were outstanding, showing both still vibrant fruit but also a beautiful mature finish reminiscent of a Montrachet; Jim has worked wonders and continues to; many Virginia winemakers got their start with him!

One winery we always stop at is Zephaniah family owned by the Hatch family. The wine is quite good. The venue is a land grant from King George. Bonnie and Bill make u so welcome. Ask to do your tasting in the library.

I have been to many Virginia wineries, however only a few appeal to me, Pollak and LA Grange. Having lived in Italy for 6 years, I find the Virginia wines don't appeal to me and the prices are way to high. Maybe I'll try some that you recommended?

Big fan of Virginia Wines! You should cross over to the Shenandoah Valley and try Muse and Shenandoah Vineyards...the terroir is totally different and equally fabulous!
