For ten years I went every morning to Joe Coffee on the corner of Waverly Place and Gay Street. There was a group there who went every day and quite quickly became family. One thing that made it work was that there was no internet connection at the time so people entertained themselves having fun and interesting conversations. Such a special time! Now I live in Hudson, NY and for awhile I searched for a similar community, but all I found was slightly populated coffee shops with hipsters sitting with their computers and never even looking up to say hello. Very sad how technology has affected human relations. I recently went back to Joe and found two of the people there from the old days. It was a wonderful and nostalgic reunion. I miss that time!

Nothing is like going to a bar in the morning in Bilbao or Bakio and having a cafe con leche and a Bollo de Mantequilla. i think they are only made in Bizkaia. the most simple and best breakfast treat i have ever had. And when you have cafe in Spain there is 3 choices not 500. In a real espresso cup not a paper cup. And they are great. I will never forget my Tia always had sopas for breakfast. cafe con lech made at home with day old bread in it. i was never a fan but she had it every day. Before they had white bread in the 30s they had cafe con leche with talos.

If you are in Los Angeles, go to lumen coffee in Highland Park. The best espresso bar with the most charming outdoor space, kind and professional baristas and great service. Can’t get any better than this in Southern California! Thank you for all the great recommendations in Spain. I was fortunate to have visited Bar Pinotxo when Juanito was there to welcome my family and I!

I had my first cafe bom bon in the Mercado in Valencia on a trip with my mother. I thought I’d died & gone to coffee heaven. I put it up the photo I took of it on my social media accounts now & then. And yet i haven’t found it yet anywhere in America.

Was just in Madrid and Barcelona, oh how I enjoyed cafe con leche everyday usually with an amazing pastry! Y por supuesto churros con chocolate en Madrid at Chocolateria San Ginés. Love the cafe in España!

I was just in Barcelona visiting my son who lives there and every day I visited the different mercatos. OMG - the quality, diversity, intricacy. And then you have the pastry, bakeries. I fell in love!

I make cafe con leche every morning at home. Equal parts of espresso and coconut milk sweetened with sweet condensed milk.

I wish you had a restaurant closer to me. I am in Lancaster Pa.

I admire you and wish one day to visit your lovely country. Frankly I wish I lived there.

You are the man!

Where are everyone’s favorites in Barcelona now that Bar Pinotxo is no longer? Or perhaps it is … but I’m not a fan of La Boqueria during the tourist seasons so I haven’t been in a while.
