Jose, absolutely looks delightful on a cold snowy day this will warm you up.. always educating us opening our views and our taste buds. You are the best ❤️
Half way home from a Caribbean Cruise and I stumbled across this great Substack. I loved all the rum I tasted but my memories will be from all the islanders that I interacted with. I need to find more happiness in my life and they have inspired me.
Rum’s story is hospitality’s story—built on culture, labor, and resilience. The best bars don’t just serve drinks; they honor the history in the glass. Thoughtful operators know that every pour is a chance to connect guests to something bigger than the bottle.
I loved to drink rum in Tortola where I used to vacation. Straight and in Pain Killers. That's all we drank. But here back in the states--not so much. Scotch and bourbon unless I make a Caribbean meal.
Inspiring Jose. Rummaging around liquor cabinet right now. Need 2, no, make that 3, fingers and a squeeze of lime.
Rum reminds me of many days sailing and having a delicious Dark and Stormy at dusk!
