It's hard to put into words how someone you never met could mean so much to you. That is the case for Tony, for Eric, and for you, Jose. Thank you for everything you do and for sharing so much of your life with us. You are a rare gift.

I just hesitatingly clicked here knowing I couldn’t begin to express myself, but you picked the exact words for me.

I love that I happen to be cooking right now! On a hot plate. Normally wouldn’t be in this heat. Winging Cincinnati chili with supposed secret ingredient of yeast!

And I’m the kinda person who has a couple Bourdain books in the corner along with his carefully folded obit.

I quit drinking four years ago this month, but I’m gonna toast him with an NA beer. And spill a splash for him. Well, not spill. I’ll do it with the class of Mr Ripert!

And of course be extremely ecstatic that a person such as Jose Andres is out there in this troubled world doing everything he does.

On Bourdain Day, let's remember how much Anthony, from #metoo to Gaza, stuck up for oppressed people around the world, giving them a microphone to amplify their voice to all corners of the earth. Agreed!! He was always rooting fr the underdog and exposed the realism in politics without getting too political and dogmatic. I honestly miss him on a regular basis as no one has filled that void in bridging the love of food with current culture & history in the way he did. He was so good at showing us, and teaching us about living. He was one of the “good eggs”. 😢 happy birthday AB

Each July I went to Les Halles for baguettes. I wrapped them as air tight as possible. I express mailed overnight for am. Delivery to my Dad for his birthday. Anthony and Phillipe never let me pay . I sent everyone from my little hotel to them for experience and a menue dedicated. The food always consistent. Lovely French cuisine. Not stuffy and like visiting home. His warm handshake and boldness are so missed. Dad is at longer table now with Anthony. I’m sure the wine is perfect and the chocolate cake a success. Thankyou Chefs

I think of him when I visit many of the places that he featured on his shows over the years, particularly the Basque region, which I now live two hours from. I, too, often wonder what the world would be like if he were still with us and what he would say about has been happening in the world in recent months.

Still miss him so much & I didn’t even know him. I like to think of all the places he’s left footprints , and somehow left his imprint on the places he visited , for the rest of us to find and discover . He really taught us what it means to travel, and how to embrace all foods and all cultures.

Tony brought the world to Mamma Mia (my mother) and me through his "Parts Unknown." Sheer brilliance, big heart, and his genuine way of meeting people in their cultures, cuisines and customs was deeply inspiring. Plus, watching him eat was fantastic.

I call upon him as an Ancestor. When I need to cook beyond me (I'm used to simple ways of eating) like I have had to do these 3 1/2 weeks for my 90 year old Pop while Mamma Mia visited her family in Italy. "Hey, Anthony, guide me, please!" I literally have conversations with him. No, I'm not crazy. lol

The other day, I could hear him laughing, telling me to pay attention, do the dishes afterwards so I can pay attention to what's on the stove, watch the temperature and for goodness sake have fun. When I accidentally dropped the salmon in the oven (saved by the parchment paper), I could hear him laughing hysterically like he did on his shows. I, like millions of others, felt he was a friend. Whether it is pure imagination or celestial connection, I feel his presence, I see him smiling, I see him visiting his friends and family and I see him soaking in the love.

I'm forever grateful for how he gifted so many of us the passion for people, cooking, traveling and connecting. Beautiful Birthday Blessings, Tony.

What I will always remember is the respect he gave to all the people that he came in contact with and all the respect he gave to everyone’s food. Showing respect is a lost art in these uncertain times…

Thank you, Jose, for creating this tribute to Tony. My husband, who loved to cook and eat, and I treasured his programs over the years. My husband died two years ago. At times, I have comfort knowing he is enjoying Tony’s consciousness!

I remember seeing Tony and Eric at a joint book signing and meet and greet in San Francisco. They were both lovely during the event and answered the audience questions with great fun. I remember asking Tony about his daughter and I could see him just melt when he talked about her. He made quite a lasting impression on me. As per Anthiny Bourdain, there is no such thing as truffle oil! Soar on and rock.

I used the Anthony Bourdain TV episodes of "No Reservations" to teach my AP Language & Composition students what informative, effective, and interesting writing is! Some of them became instant fans of his for years beyond our year together in the classroom! We also learned the rewards of travel, relationships, and introspection. 🖤

So, in Atlanta the story goes that Tony brought Alton Brown to the famous Clermont Lounge, probably the world's best dive/strip bar. Tony loved it and they loved him. Bartenders say Tony was genuinely kind and fun to have in house, welcome back anytime. I just cant believe I did not follow my gut feeling and go that same Monday night while I knew he was in town. I always imagine him sitting at the bar when I go, smiling and just being Tony. Cheers brother!

Picking up a copy of Kitchen Confidential at the bookstore cafe I worked when I was sixteen. I work for Chartwells-Higher Education cooking for the next generation soberly. Thanks for teaching me Jefe Tony by your life & death!
