A great chef, a better human being, his 3 cool daughters and plenty of soigne food in Spain. What more can we ask for except care packages.

España me formó la vida, differently than you but with much love & admiration for the culture and people. My journey began at 15 as an American exchange student to Spain. I can’t wait to watch this journey you took with your daughters! Son preciosas!

José- usted está mi héroe!!!

I stumbled across your work with World Central Kitchen while doing research for my high school Spanish classes. I’m a Spanish teacher & amateur cocinera. When I retire in a few years, I want to work for your organization and help feed people in need. Thank you for coming to ACTFL via Zoom- you’ve inspired my students and fellow language teachers as well! We want to help feed the world.

Jose Andrés: I met you in the Spring of 1993 while dining at Jaleo in DC w my friend, Fred. We are both half Spaniards raised in the US, but both having lived at times and visited family in Spain frequently and attending American University in DC. When you overheard us going from American English and Castilian Spanish effortlessly, you came over to ask us how we thought your restaurant would do. We told you we thought you would do well, never realizing what a great success beyond DC you would become! I have soon learned that in life humility, hospitality and kindness go a long way!!! Thank you for being a great example of our culture and congratulations on your great success and humanity!

I spent nearly a month in Spain this past September starting off in Madrid. I immediately fell in love with the country and it’s cuisine. My wife and I are huge fans of Basque food so naturally our next stop was San Sebastián. Next we went south to Barcelona, another magical place with outstanding food. After that we drove from Barcelona to Valencia and many points in between. Since my last name is Cádiz I had to stop there. While in Andalusia we stayed in Sevilla for a few days to enjoy all that it has to offer. As all things must end we traveled back to Madrid to find our way home.
