Our household was thrilled at Spain's victory. We have a personal connection, as my daughter lived in Madrid for a year while she earned her Masters in Spanish language and translation, and she keeps in touch with her second family in Madrid.

Palma didn't sleep last night. There's something about a whole country feeling the same joy at once, just pure shared celebration!!

¡Viva España! What a night. 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸

I watched in my new hometown of Sevilla with new friends on La Alameda de Hércules! What fun and how unforgettable to get to experience España winning the World Cup only four months after I moved here.

Albariño wine, manchego cheese and ham for my charcuterie board. Grilled bread with garlic, EVOO and tomato in the style of Spain as well as empanadas from a local shop. Shared with friends on my deck:). Love your posts!❤️⚽️

It's actually your third World Cup--your women's team are reigning champs as well!

I watched the victory at your Oyamel Restaurant in DC surrounded by supporters of the Spanish team from countries all over the world. The group at the next table wearing the jerseys of Mexico were as enthusiastic as any regular fan of La Roja. Viva Espana!

Yesterday’s match was as seismic as it was historic. I’ve been hanging the Spanish flag outside my home on Long Island since el caudillo naranjo said those awful things about Spain. The world loves Spain, and so do I. My spouse is half Spanish, I lived in Spain for one year (in Sevilla la maravilla), and I love everything and everyone Spanish. And I adore Little Spain!! Thank you José Andrés for everything you do for humanity; you are are true champion for goodness and decency. ¡Viva España! ¡Viva José Andrés!

Everyone I know, except for the Argentinians, was rooting for Spain!

But we are very happy for our dear “madre patria”, España. Well- deserved! And who better than Spaniards to know what a “crack” we have in Messi! ☺️
