Yep, we’re back with a new episode of Longer Tables. This week, we have someone extra special to me, the great cellist, Yo-Yo Ma.
Yo-Yo and I met and became mutual fan boys when he spontaneously played a private concert for me. Picture it: A misty night in Washington, D.C., he was leaving a conference just as I was arriving. It was … magic.
Such extraordinary moments of generosity are not rare in the world of Yo-Yo. It’s how he moves through the world.
Listen to our conversation today to hear about his “tiger parents”, his love of offal—kidneys, liver and, in particular, brains—plus more amazing moments where Yo-Yo has played his cello in solidarity, appreciation or simple joy.
That joyous moment? It’s on this podcast, people! Yo-Yo surprised me by playing an amazing piece by Ennio Morricone. It’s breathtaking. If you’re not already a fan boy of Yo-Yo, you will be after this!
