Spicy Garlic Chicken Wings for Lunar New Year and Super Bowl!
One weekend, two parties, three pounds of garlicky chicken wings
Friends—it’s never too early to start planning for the big weekend coming…February 10th is Lunar New Year and the 11th is the Super Bowl! I thought you could “matar dos pájaros de un tiro" and use one recipe twice—Chinese and Korean-inspired chicken wings from my Las Vegas restaurant China Poblano! They’re a little spicy, a little sweet, and very, very tasty.
This recipe bakes and broils the wings to be golden brown and crunchy, before tossing them in a sticky-sweet chili-honey-butter, a riff on a Chinese-Korean dish called Kkanpunggi. If you’d like, you could fry the wings instead—heat some neutral oil to 360º and fry the wings in batches before finishing them off in a 425º oven, then toss them in the sauce. Either way you’ll have a delicious platter of chicken wings, ready for a lunar new year party, watching the game, or both.
Oh—and think about serving the wings with a cooling cucumber salad if you like…or just some cold beer!
