My friends!
Remember when I told you I don’t believe in gloomy? Seeing smoke-filled skies in Washington D.C. a few weeks ago made that a little difficult. But it also made me more determined to appreciate the simple pleasures in life! And to share with you the things that put a smile on my face, even when things are tough.
This week, the thing that I am loving is … baby vegetables. What, you say? José, baby vegetables are wasteful and expensive! But, in the latest episode of Longer Tables, I’ll tell you the story of how I became a believer in these small bursts of flavor. (Did you know baby corn tastes like licorice?) And I believe, I will win you over to my point of view.
In this episode, I’ll also share a remembrance on Jaleo’s 30th anniversary, which we are celebrating today in my Washington restaurants. (Hint: It has to do with me being confused for a bouncer at a topless bar.) Plus, I answer an incredibly important question from a listener on how I think we can make convenient meals more affordable and healthier, for ourselves and for the planet.
If you have an answer to this question, let me know! Or email me at longertables@joseandres.com to be on the show yourself!
