Longer Tables, Higher Orbits
An out-of-this-world podcast with Axiom astronauts Peggy Whitson and Michael López-Alegría
Greetings Earthlings!
If you know me, you know I love pretty much everything that has to do with space exploration. Which is why on the latest episode of my podcast, we talked all about space – and of course food in space – with two stellar guests: Michael López-Alegría and Peggy Whitson.
Michael is a Spaniard like me, an old friend of mine. He is Chief Astronaut for Axiom Space. And he was Commander of the Ax-1, which last year made the world’s first private trip to the International Space Station. In addition to doing scientific work on that mission, Michael became the first person to eat paella— cooked by me and my team—in space! On this show, he gives his (not exactly) glowing review…you will have to listen in to see what his complaints were!
Peggy Whitson, also with Axiom, is America’s most experienced astronaut. She grew up on a farm in Iowa, and sold chickens and eggs to raise money for flight school. After joining NASA, it took 10 years and five application rounds to be named an astronaut. Just goes to show that persistence pays off.
I had so many questions about what it’s really like to be up there – and eat up there. So hit play, and go with me where no podcast host has gone before.
Such an inpiring and interesting conversation. Thank you
