Jen Psaki: The ingredients of a White House life
Yours truly talks food with President Biden's first press secretary
As you all know by now, food is my way of making sense of the world. (Tell me what you eat and I’ll tell you who you are, right?) But I’ve always been interested in how other people make sense of the world, and on today’s podcast I have someone who gets paid to do just that: Jen Psaki.
Jen is a Washington veteran. She worked on President Obama’s first campaign and then in his administration. But most of us first got to know her in 2021, when Jen was named President Biden’s first press secretary. Her sharp and often funny exchanges with reporters were legendary, and were quickly called “Psaki bombs.”
Jen left the White House last year, and last month she became host of a weekly show on MSNBC: Inside with Jen Psaki. Now she’s the reporter having to ask tough questions—maybe one day to her former boss.
I’m not going to lie: I was really nervous to ask Jen questions. But it turns out she was even more nervous to talk to me about what she does, and doesn’t cook. Listen in to find out what her go-to meal is and what it’s really like to be inside the White House with President Biden.
Oh—and one favor. If you like the podcast, subscribe! You can subscribe via Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
Your unsubscribing from Apple/Spotify due to one food episode? Was it the dancing, the pasta, or the family life that was political? Maybe it was the President Bush letter? You clearly did not listen to the episode. Time to reevaluate perspectives in life. Good luck Patty.
Such an interesting & fun interview with Jen! Thanks for sharing from your heart, Chef Andres & Jen! My husband & I are coming to DC in July & planning to eat at Jaleo! CAN'T WAIT!!
