Interviewing Emeril in the Heart of Vegas
The granddaddy of celebrity chefs talks life, love -- and his favorite places to eat on and off the Vegas Strip
For the last few weeks, I’ve been talking a lot about Las Vegas. But I can’t help it. I LOVE Las Vegas. What a city! It’s got edge! It’s got sparkle! It’s got FOUR of my restaurants–with more to come–plus many, many other world-class places to eat.
As you know, I was in Las Vegas this month for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards. And while I was there, I, of course, took the opportunity to see the world-class chefs who you find there…and to tape a live version of Longer Tables.
My guest…the only and the one…Emeril Lagasse. Bam!
You all know who Emeril is. He reinvented New Orleans cuisine in the 1990s and pretty much invented food TV as we know it today with shows like Emeril Live.
He’s also one of the most generous people I know. Wait till you hear about how he drove a truck full of homemade red rice and beans from New Orleans to Panama City, Florida to help the World Central Kitchen team feed people after Hurricane Michael.
Emeril and I recorded at an amazing bar (and barbershop!) called The Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. I wish you all could have been there with me. But I hope this recording gives you the feeling of having been there and inspires you to head to Las Vegas yourself to check out all the amazing places to eat and drink!
Thank you to Las Vegas for sponsoring this episode of Longer Tables!
Two culinary legends!
