A magical mystery truffle tour
Journalist Rowan Jacobsen spills the secrets of the truffle world
It’s no secret. I love food. But I what I also love are great, surprising stories about food. That’s why I invited the journalist Rowan Jacobsen on my podcast this week.
Who is Rowan? People! He’s only one of the most interesting reporters covering food today. This guy has hacked his way through the Amazon in the search for wild cacao beans. He has hunted with dogs to dig up aromatic truffles in Italy, Spain, the U.S. and Canada. (See a picture of him below with the cover of his great book, “Truffle Hound.”) Rowan even arranged to send me a fresh truffle that is native to my home in Maryland. I had no idea!
But wait, there’s more! Rowan has also written books on oysters, apples, honey and wild chocolate. So I promise, you too will learn a lot on this show…including that you must find and eat Olympia oysters.
Never heard of them? It’s time to tune in!
How fascinating that story was.
Can't wait to listen!
